[STOLEN! FROM STUPIDITY'S BLOG]

The last on the list was Closer. The pace of the movie was slow but never taxing on me. I found it a pretty decent depiction of sex, love, betrayal and manipulation. Maybe I just mentioned was just a chip of the iceberg. Anyway, I haven't given it a real thought as to what was the central theme of the movie because it was littered with many other sub themes.

One which I thought was definitely true was the possessive and egoistic nature of males. The 2 male protaganists, Larry (Clive Owen) and Daniel (Jude Law), were perfect examples of these qualities with Larry being the alpha-male who comes out stronger of the 2. The idea of another man f***ing his own woman just can't go down well with any man. (Pardon the language.) Not as if the vice versa would go down well with any woman but the show seems to hint that women are generally more forgiving. (Though I suspect that might not be true)

Male seems indeed to be the more capricious sex, being able to cheat and change without much guilt comparatively.

In the show, Daniel kept seeking the truth in order to satisfy himself. Satisfy what, I don't know, but it seems that it happens to many people. Perhaps there really isn't any good in knowing the truth because uncovering it brings pain. What is point of knowing the truth then it does not bring any good? Curiosity killed the cat (Daniel, in this case). Yet not knowing the truth means there is an unknown subject that will hide inside you, nagging and disturbing you all your life. Such is the narrow mindedness of people.

Forgiveness and trust does not come easy. Sometimes it's easy to think that you have forgiven a person's action but deep down, you probably have never accepted that behaviour. Forgive does not equal forget. Humans are just illiberal when it comes to relationships. Once trust is lost, it's tedious to retrieve.

Just some thoughts that filled my mind, so they were not very well organised. I guess I can't write well. Anyway, the show set me thinking about relationships. Just to share another interesting thought that came from an actress. She said that people who can fall in love at first sight are those who are likely to have extra maritial affairs. I thought it made sense. Attraction and love ain't the same to to me. The first being short-lived and fleeting probably because it rides on external beauty and the element of freshness and novelty. The latter? I'm not sure about it. I don't know how to define it. But I'm pretty sure it's something more perennial and reliable.

thot-provoking comments on my latest catch of e beeg screen...hmm...*thotful*
